Colorado Fires Photos - Spring, 2004
Ectasy, a Haflinger mare, was born in May of 1998. I have owned her since her birth and have done all of her training. She rides and drives and has been inspected and approved by the Haflinger Breeders Organization.
Here is Ectasy as a newborn, barely 1/2 hour old (she's still wet). She is pictured with her mom Missy, registered name E2. (May 29, 1998)
Ectasy as a weanling...in the house.
This picture of her driving was taken this year (2002) at an SSHC show in Raynham. It was her first show driving and she place 2nd in the Pleasure driving open class and won the championship.
I don't know how it happened...but it sure looks funny. This was taken at the Equine Affiaire 2002 before our demo.
Ectasy and her human showed off the Haflinger as a trail horse in the Haflinger breed demo at the 2002 Equine Affaire held in Springfield, MA. Ectasy's full brother also showed in the demo (the western haflinger) but he was misbehaving so he left  the arena early...bad pony!

Ectasy and her human have been invited back to do the breed demo for 2003. However, her human is now living in Colorado attending Vet. school so they won't be able to.

She also is learning dressage, loves trail riding and hunter paces and likes going for walks.
This is what happens when you plait a haflinger's full mane for a hunter show...
Ectasy is enjoying her sleep over at Pine Ponderosa Farm in Belchertown, MA, prior to going to Vermont for the Haflinger Breeders' Organization inspection/classification. She passed the inspection/classification and is branded with the haflinger foal brand, an H with an A above it on her left shoulder, and the Edelweiss brand on her left hip.

If you can believe it this thoroughbred foal weighed 35 lbs. She was born 5 weeks premature. The picture was taken at a Thoroughbred farm I worked at in Kentucky just as the Mare Reproductive Loss Syndrome became apparent. We had 3 aborted and this one premature. I spent 52 hours straight taking care of this foal, feeding and taking her temp every 20 minutes. It was December and it was snowing so they gave her an electric blanket. To stay awake I watched 3 movies over and over...Rules of Engagement, The Skulls and Blackdog. Sadly this little filly was euthanized at just 8 days old due to sepsis in some of her joints. The owner felt she had too many strikes against her.

These are pictures of me riding Sammy (Ho Ho Sam), a 16 year old off the track thoroughbred. I began leasing him in October of 2003. He is a really good boy. He has the best canter...I could sit on him all day. And I thought I'd see how fast he could run...let's just say I can see why he was a racehorse.

Here is a picture of my beagle. His name is Sully. We're not really sure how old he is (~5years) because he just appeared in January of 2002. He had severe mange, ear and eye infections and was very underweight. That's just what we could see. We notified the dog officer who said if he heard of anyone looking for a beagle he'd send them to our way. For six weeks he lived in a stall at my trainer's barn waiting for someone to claim him. He had his own blanket, as well as food and water. She started his vet care. Finally when no one claimed him, I took him home. By then his ear and eye infections had cleared up and he was gaining weight and his hair was growing back. The first thing I did was get him neutered. I worked as a veterinary technician, so I brought him to do some tests on him. He ended up having heartworm disease and lyme disease. Now he has been treated for both and is a happy, healthy young man. I've heard lots of bad things about beagles, but this guy is great. I couldnt' have asked for a better friend. (July 2003)
