| Looking for a name "the machos in the house can live with" - LOL! | ![]() |
| Eureka! We have done it! We have come up with a name! She is Katie! She's getting brave: struts right past the dogs, chases the neighbor's very friendly cat away from her " Mom" and has even been so bold as to venture into the barn! | ![]() |
| I was out cleaning the corral and noticed a small squirrel closer to old Domino than was natural. So I watched awhile. This little squirrel came up behind Dom (he was a red roan, had a pretty gray and white tail, very full) and he climbed right up his tail and scooted right underneath the tail head (dangerous spot, Dom was a gassy horse!) It just hid there! I was amazed! I called to my husband for my camera and explained what happened, fast. He ran into the house and came back with my camera and the camcorder. I have video too! That little squirrel just kept sticking his head out from Dom's butt, peeking at the world. Finally Dom had enough and gave a series of tail wiggles 'til the little guy fell down the tail to the ground. The squirrel disappeared for awhile and resurfaced on a low branch, peering into the dog kennel, eyeing the speckled back of our German Shepherd, big No-No: Bruin HATES squirrels. We managed to capture the little guy in a 5 gal bucket with a window screen on top and transported him to ORENDA Wildlife Trust's building about 10 minutes from here. I received a letter from them a month or so later: the juvenile squirrel had pneumonia and was probably lookin' for his Mama! Dom's tail was close I guess! It was really weird! Orenda sent me a letter stating that the squirrel recovered from pneumonia and was released a healthy rodent! | ![]() |

| [November,
2003]: "...a
few photos of Casino from last summer for the
"before" shots. They don't show off his bones very well, but, hey...he is my project. Still working on filling in the topline and building up those butt muscles. By spring he should look great." |

| The
last of the pix of Casino....:-(
He and Liz seem very content in NH. In the 2 1/2 hours I was there he was handed apples, carrots and peppermints.....She is worried her ( now grown ) children will be jealous of the treatment she gives the horse! LOL! When he first came, Fall 2003, severely underweight and under muscled, he could NOT walk: jig and dance only....By January 2005, he could walk, trot and lope ( sometimes) On the ground you could not ask for better, an absolute doll...while on his back: his energy got the best of him but he was always compliant...made his rider look awesome! LOL. I love this horse, and I will miss him. Good Luck to Elizabeth, I trust you to be his new Mom: Happy Trails! |

| Here's Dazzle in May, 2004 - 16 now, and the best trail horse you could ever ask for. I can put anyone on him with confidence, most recently a 10 year old boy just learning to ride, who, incidentally, took this photo! | ![]() |
| Here he is with the same 10 year old. | ![]() |
